Applications of Technology in Teaching AND Research for the 21st Century

ATCM 2001 is to provide an interdisciplinary forum for teachers,  researchers, educators and decision makers around the world in the fields of mathematics and mathematical sciences. It also provides a venue for researchers and developers of computer technology to present their results in using technology in both basic research and pedagogical research, and to exchange ideas and information in their latest developments. The conference will cover a broad range of topics on the relevancy of technology in mathematical research and teaching. These include, but are not limited to:

  1. Applications of computer algebra (systems) in research and teaching
  2. Multimedia, computer-aided and distance in learning and teaching
  3. Applications of graphing calculators in mathematical sciences.
  4. Mathematical research and teaching using technology
  5. Mathematical tools and World Wide Web technology
  6. Implementation of technology in education from K12 to University level
  7. Assessment of implementation of technology in education
  8. Mathematics and information technology

The conference will consist of plenary sessions by invited speakers, parallel sessions of contributed papers, and tutorial sessions on software and hardware relevant to research and teaching. Books, software and hardware may also be on display.

The deadline for the submission of abstracts is June 15, 2001.

Each abstract should not exceed one page. Abstracts will be reviewed, and if found appropriate to the conference, a full paper manuscript will be invited for submission.

Abstracts should be submitted via the Web in either text or HTML format. This method of submission will ensure timely processing of the abstract for further action. For this reason, please submit your abstract using the form available at:

Abstract Submission for ATCM01 Only

(If this form is unavailable, please submit a copy of your abstract to both email addresses: atcm@radford.edu & atcminc@atcminc.com. Each abstract must show the title, authors' names and their affiliations. The sender's email address will be used for the purpose of further contact.)

Abstracts can still be submitted and will only be reviewed for presentation at the conference. Please click here to get a list of current submissions. Of course, you can check your own submission status at the submission page with your email address and password.

Full Papers: Back to Top

The deadline for the submission of a full paper is July 31, 2001.

All full paper submissions must be preceded by an abstract submission, and accompanied with a 'reference number' (e.g., ATCMA098). Different electronic formats are accepted but PDF is preferred. See below for where the electonic files should be sent.

Selected full papers that are presented at ATCM 2001 will be compiled in both the hardcopy and electronic versions of the Proceedings. The hard copy Proceedings will be distributed to registered participants at the conference.

Each full paper should not exceed ten single-spaced pages.

Full paper submission for review must be in one of the following formats:

  • Microsoft Word,
  • Postscript,
  • PDF (Preferred),
  • HTML (please make sure you provide any embedded image files), or
  • LaTeX/TeX. Do not use any special packages - we only support basic styles that come with the LaTeX/TeX typesetting system.

Where to submit: For Postscript and TeX/LaTeX formats, please send your electronic submission by email to garyfitz@rmit.edu.au and atcminc@atcminc.com; for other formats (MS Word, PDF, and HTML), please send to atcm@radford.edu and atcminc@atcminc.com.

Camera Ready & Electronic Proceedings Copies

Full Paper Copyright Form | Abstract Copyright Form

For full papers that have been accepted for publication in the Proceedings, the following guidelines must be followed:

  • Two camera-ready copies of the manuscript must be submitted on A4 white paper. The manuscript must be printed with a laser printer of resolution at least at 600 DPI. On-time receipt of this hard copy manuscript will allow us to continue with the process of preparing for printing.
  • A soft copy of the manuscript in PDF must be sent, with the same deadline as the hardcopy, to BOTH email accounts: atcm@radford.edu & atcminc@atcminc.com; on-time receipt of this soft copy manuscript, signed copyright statement and paid registration will ensure the inclusion of the manuscript in the electronic Proceedings, provided all the other formatting guidelines are met.

Guidelines

Each manuscript must meet the following guidelines before it will be processed for inclusion in the Proceedings. Manuscripts that do not meet these guidelines will be returned and must be appropriately modified by the time deadline for camera-ready submission.

  • Only Times New Roman font should be used.
